Airbnb and Pinterest are the two most successful unicorns in recent history and the shining stars for the next generation of startups and startup founders alike.
What do we have in common with Airbnb and Pinterest?
We share a similar heritage and model, the Sharing Economy, which will become a multi-trillion dollars market, and it has been predicted that most new businesses will base on this model.
Airbnb Sharing Economy Model
Airbnb is a community-based online platform for listing and renting local homes. It connects hosts and travelers (guests) and facilitates the process of renting without owning any rooms itself. Moreover it cultivates a sharing economy by allowing property owners to rent out private flats.
Canlead Sharing Economy Model (Tokenizing Opportunities)
Canlead is a social Opportunity and Referral platform that allows users to post job, product and service opportunities on a board, and discovering unique opportunities other users have posted.
Canlead connects opportunities (hosts) with users (candidates), and rewards successful referrals (leaders/ referrers), and facilitates the process of hiring, buying, selling and brokering without owning any opportunities itself. Canlead is also cultivating a sharing economy by allowing businesses, individuals and everyone to participate in the opportunity sharing and earning ecosystem.
Pinterest Sharing Economy Model (Monetizing Pins)
Pinterest is a social network that allows users to visually share, and discover new interests by posting (known as ‘pinning’ on Pinterest) images or videos to their own or others’ boards (i.e. a collection of ‘pins,’ usually with a common theme) and browsing what other users have pinned.
Pinterest has given businesses the ability to create business-specific accounts — it’s no longer a personal playground for cooks and fashion lovers. Pinterest should be an important part of any B2B or B2C social media marketing strategy.
Pinterest doesn’t charge any fees from merchant or consumer for buying through Pinterest. In recent years, Pinterests has integrated a “buy it” button which permits users to buy pinned products directly from Pinterest, rather than visiting a separate merchant site. Merchants participating in BigCommerce, Shopify, or Salesforce Commerce Cloud are allowed the opportunity to partner with Pinterest. Pinterest has integrated with Stripe and Braintree payment providers to conduct the transactions on pinterest platform.
